Kari Arnason says he 'didn't expect' to be sacked by Plymouth for refusing to sign a deferral on his wages.

Former Plymouth midfielder considering appeal against dismissal

Kari Arnason has revealed he 'didn't expect' to be sacked by Plymouth Argyle for refusing to sign a deferral on his June wages. The cash-strapped Pilgrims have not paid their players' wages since December and had asked Arnason to accept a further referral. However, when the Icelandic midfielder refused, he was dismissed by the League Two club and the 28-year-old is now considering an appeal. "Basically I didn't expect to get sacked for not signing," Arnason told Sky Sports News.

Disappointing

"I didn't expect to get any money. I knew the club didn't have any money so I wasn't forcing their hands to pay me. "We weren't playing, we weren't in the season, we weren't getting paid, so why sign something saying I'm not going to get paid. It didn't make any sense to me so I just said I'm not going to sign it. "I've played almost every minute for the last two years so it's kind of disappointing that they don't have any more goodwill and just give you the axe as soon as you don't sign what they want you to sign." Arnason has subsequently linked up with Hearts on trial and he is due to be involved during the SPL club's training camp in Italy.
