Rotherham have strengthened their squad by recruiting defender Tom Newey from Bury on a two-year deal.

Newey joined the Shakers on a 12-month contract last summer but has now left for Rotherham on a free transfer.

Millers manager Ronnie Moore has been keeping tabs on the 27-year-old for quite a while and will be delighted to have an additional option at left-back.

Chief operating officer Paul Douglas told Rotherham's official website: "Tom is a quality player who Ronnie Moore has admired for some time.

"He is a local lad who wants to do well for Rotherham United and is someone who we believe will provide some serious competition for Jamie Green at left-back."
