Injured Rotherham striker closing in on return

Rotherham striker Drewe Broughton is closing in on a return to the first team after sitting out the last five weeks with a broken toe. The former MK Dons target man has endured a frustrating time on the sidelines after picking up the injury during a pre-season training session. He is raring to get back into action and hopes to resume full training at some point during the next week. Broughton told skysports.com: "I did it a couple of weeks into pre-season, when the friendlies were just starting to kick in, so it has been a little frustrating, especially when it first happened, but you get your head round it pretty quickly. "You just have to get on with it really because injuries are part and parcel of football.

Coming along

"It's coming along nicely. It usually takes four to six weeks to heal and I'm in the fifth week now, so I will hopefully be joining in full training early next week." Broughton is keen to get back into the fold after sitting out Rotherham's league wins over Grimsby and Accrington and the Carling Cup victory over Derby, as well as the league defeat to Bournemouth. He added: "I haven't been around the lads a lot due to my injury because I've had to spend most of my time with the physio and in the gym, but the start has been good and wins are wins, so having a couple on the board early on bodes well for the season. "I'm looking forward to playing my part really because before the injury I was really enjoying my football, so I can't wait to get back into training first and then we'll take it from there."
