Owls defender slams Hillsborough exit rumours

Sheffield Wednesday defender Richard Wood has denied media reports claiming he has handed in a transfer request. The 24-year-old came up through the ranks at Hillsborough and has established himself as an integral part of manager Brian Laws' team. Wood is believed to on Coventry City's radar, which prompted unfounded reports of a transfer request on Friday, but the centre-half has categorically denied such claims. "This transfer request rumour is completely untrue and I would like to stress that I am happy with my situation at Sheffield Wednesday," Wood told the club's official website. "Myself and the manager have a good understanding, I'm happy here and there is absolutely no truth whatsoever in this news." The Owls continue their 2009/10 Championship season preparations with the visit of Premier League side Hull City, who travel to Hillsborough on Saturday.
