Keeper out for season due to ankle injury

Scott Shearer has been ruled out of the rest of Wycombe Wanderers' promotion push due to an ankle injury. The goalkeeper has sat out Wycombe's last five games after suffering a recurrence of the ankle problem which saw him miss the bulk of last season. Wycombe were hoping to delay an operation until the summer, but manager Peter Taylor has confirmed Shearer will require an immediate operation. "It's for the season," Taylor told the club's official website. "He injured his ankle at the beginning of last season and we were hoping to wait until the summer to sort it, but it's been aggravated in recent weeks and he saw a specialist late last week. "Shears will have the operation later in March and will miss eight weeks. "It's a big blow for Scotty and for us. He's had a very good season and has put us in this position. "We've brought in Ashlee Jones, but we'll be looking for another goalkeeper as well."
