Grimsby join Boulding chase

Grimsby have joined the chase to sign prolific Mansfield striker Michael Boulding.

Prolific striker in-demand

Grimsby have joined the chase to sign prolific Mansfield striker Michael Boulding. The experienced 32-year-old scored 22 league goals last term but his haul was not enough to prevent the Stags' relegation from League Two. He has now been offered a new contract with Mansfield but wishes to continue playing in the Football League. This has alerted several clubs, with Rotherham and Lincoln monitoring the situation. Now Grimsby have thrown their hat into the ring, with Mariners boss Alan Buckley telling the Grimsby Telegraph: "I have spoken briefly to Michael, but then I went on holiday and I think he is away now.
Interest known
"We have made our interest known by making contact and we will see what happens. I know a lot of clubs will be keen on Michael's services." But Buckley could be scuppered in his plans, as Mansfield manager Paul Holland said on Wednesday that he remains 'very positive' about keeping hold of Boulding.
