Eugen Bopp will be offered a new contract by Rotherham United, but Colin Murdock will be released in the summer.
Millers boss Mark Robins is assessing his squad for next season and has decided Murdock will not be part of his plans.
The Northern Irish defender has made just six appearances in an injury-hit campaign and will be allowed to move on.
But Robins has confirmed that he is keen to keep Bopp, who has scored five goals in 29 League One appearances since joining from Nottingham Forest last summer.
"Colin has been unfortunate with injuries this season as he has been an international player for a number of seasons, so he is frustrated and disappointed," Robins told the club's official website.
"We feel he needs to move on and take up another opportunity.
"But I will be offering a new deal to Eugen Bopp with preliminary talks having taken place before he goes to Lilleshall next week.
"We will monitor the situation regarding his injury, but he is someone I would want to keep.
"Talks with other players will take place at the end of the season."
