DEFENDER David Artell says he regrets ever joining Shrewsbury Town as he now finds himself one of many professional footballers looking for new employers this summer.

The stopper joined The Shrews on loan at the end of last year from Rotherham United but failed to save them from relegation in Division Three.

To make matters worse, Rotherham have decided to release the 22-year-old from Millmoor, and he admits he has been waiting patiently for any offers.

"I'd be delighted if Manchester United came in for me but the possibility of that happening is miniscule," said Artell.

"Ideally I'm looking for something in the Football League but whether that happens, who knows?

"On the downside, people will associate me with a team that has been relegated to the Conference and in hindsight coming to Shrewsbury was not the best move."
