Backroom staff exit Chesterfield

Image: Kevin Lynch: Was part of Paul Cook's coaching staff

First-team coach Kevin Lynch and goalkeeping coach Eric Nixon are the latest staff departures at Chesterfield.

Lynch and Nixon have followed fitness coach Shane Nicholson out of the Proact Stadium as new manager Dean Saunders overhauls the staff he inherited from predecessor Paul Cook. Nicholson, who made nearly 100 appearances for the Spireites in two spells as a player at the club, was handed the role of fitness coach by then-manager Lee Richardson when he retired from playing in 2007. Lynch and Nixon were appointed by Cook two years ago. The trio helped Chesterfield win the League Two title in the 2013/14 season and reach the League One play-offs this campaign. "I would like to thank Shane, Kevin and Eric for their service," said Spireites chief executive Chris Turner. "Shane in particular has made a valuable contribution as his association with the club goes back to 1998. He has worked hard to develop the fitness of the players he has worked with. "As Dean Saunders wants to assemble his own backroom team, as managers usually do, changes have had to be made. I would like to wish Shane, Kevin and Eric all the best for the future."
