Bosses lament injury problems

Paul Cook and Graham Alexander both bemoaned injuries after Fleetwood and Chesterfield battled out a goalless draw.

The woodwork denied the Spireites a victory over the early pace-setters in Sky Bet League One as the two promoted sides went head to head. The visitors should have snatched it at the death as two substitutes combined to open up the Town defence. A blast from Ollie Banks was well saved by Chris Maxwell, the loose ball fell to Armand Gnanduillet who beat the keeper only to see his shot come back off the woodwork. Daniel Jones then hit the bar from distance with seconds remaining as Fleetwood clung on to preserve their unbeaten record. "I thought we were excellent, especially in the first half," said Chesterfield boss Cook. "We dominated the game, had chance after chance. We just didn't put those chances away and that can always come back and hurt you. "At the end we've hit the post, but we've shown great resilience to come away from home to Fleetwood, who are very strong, and keep a clean sheet and create the chances we have created. "We're not stupid, we know we've got to start putting those chances away. But the lads haven't half represented our club well. "We've had a lot of injuries. Some of our lads are playing through a lot of pain. Three of them weren't really fit to play. "When we make the substitutions we don't really have a lot of options, but we just want our fans to be patient." Fleetwood manager Alexander said: "It was a hard-earned point for both teams. "We didn't play as fluently as we can, especially in the first half. In the second half we got a response and it was an end-to-end game. "It's a clean sheet, another one, and that's important, and a point on the board. "We've come into the fourth game, got 10 points on the board and we have to be positive. We don't want to be an average team." Alexander revealed he has got real injury issues in his dressing room with Stephen Jordan the latest to struggle. "We had 16 outfield players this morning," he said. "If we'd have lost one in the game we might have been in trouble. "The way the lads are playing now the team is picking itself but it will be nice to get a few more options."
