Cook praise for players

Paul Cook insisted his Chesterfield players deserved all the credit after reaching the JPT final for the second time in three years.

The Spireites boss was delighted to tick off one of the club's objectives this season and will now concentrate on the other - winning the League Two title. Jon Parkin gave Fleetwood a 1-0 win in the second leg of their northern section final but Chesterfield, winners of the competition in 2012, went through 3-2 on aggregate to reach Wembley - where they will meet Peterborough on Sunday, March 30. "I just want to back away from this myself because I think the players should take all the plaudits, we are top of the league and going to Wembley," said Cook. "I thought we played well and were really unfortunate to lose the game, I didn't think we were going to lose because we passed the ball well but this was always about getting through because it was always going to be a difficult game. "We know Fleetwood are strong and were not going to come here and lie down and if we had scored first it would have helped us, and we had opportunities to do that. "I am very proud of the players and this is not about me, there are other people who deserve plaudits. "We have to concentrate on the league now. We've achieved one of the things we set out to do at the start of the season and we have a smashing day at the end of March to look forward to. "But we have some big, important league matches between now and then, starting with Wycombe on Saturday. It's important we continue well in the league and get this club up at the end of the season."
