Chesterfield coach Kevin Lynch labelled their display as 'outstanding' after the league leaders beat AFC Wimbledon 2-0.

Goals from Gary Roberts and Sam Hird clinched the points for the home side in an open game that was full of chances at both ends. Michael Smith was denied four times by Chesterfield goalkeeper Tommy Lee who made a brilliant double save from the striker minutes before Roberts ghosted in at the back post to put away Jay O'Shea's cross in the 30th minute. "Full credit to Wimbledon for coming here and making a game of it but we were outstanding in terms of the football we played," he said. "It showed the commitment of these players. Tommy Lee made some outstanding saves and players put their necks on the line right at the end which shows the will not to concede a goal. "There's a real belief in these players and it shows right throughout the team and that's what good teams do, they believe in each other and we certainly believe in them as well. "I thought it was a collective team performance and that's what really pleased us more than anything." Gary McSheffrey, who has signed a four month contract with Chesterfield, came on near the end and caught Lynch's eye. "He adds quality to the team and I thought he made some great runs and could have got a goal," he said. "And it's pleasing when you have a bench as strong as we have."
