Turner: Lester will stay

Chief executive Chris Turner is confident Chesterfield striker Jack Lester will sign a new deal with the club.

Lester, 37, said earlier this season that he was unsure about playing on when his current contract expires in the summer. But Turner believes the veteran still has a lot to offer and hopes he can keep him at the Proact Stadium a little while longer. "The manager (Paul Cook) has had some tentative talks with Jack about his future and I'm sure there will be something sorted out," Turner told BBC Radio Sheffield. "He is a tremendous professional, he's still fit and he's still ambitious. "It'll be left down to what Jack wants to do in the future and everyone knows he is up there with the greats of this football club." Lester has scored 91 goals in 209 appearances since joining the Spireites from Nottingham Forest in 2007, eight of which have come this season.
