Solbakken pleased to land Margreitter in four-year deal

Wolves have announced the signing of defender Georg Margreitter from Austria Vienna for an undisclosed fee. The 23-year-old Austria Under 21 international has penned a four-year contract at Molineux. Wolves boss Stale Solbakken has revealed that the club have been tracking Margreitter for much of the summer and is pleased to have signed the centre-back. "We have been searching for a central defender and Georg fits the billing," Solbakken told the club's official website. "He wanted to come to England and we have been following him for the last six or seven weeks. "We could have signed him earlier but (he) missed a game because he had a small ankle injury and we wanted to be absolutely 100 per cent sure. "Our scouts have been keeping an eye on him and then I spoke to him and I am pleased that we have managed to bring him. "It is a good signing not only for this season but also for the future because I think he has good years in front of him."

Excited

Margreitter admits he is proud and excited to be joining the Championship side. "I am really happy about completing the move," said the defender. "I am very proud to sign for a club with such a big tradition in England and it's a dream come true. "There were several English clubs watching me but it has all happened in the last few days and I am very excited. "I have seen the stadium as well and have a good feeling about everything - there is a sense of familiarity about the club and I think it is the perfect size. "I have learned a lot about Wolves and know that they are the only club in the country to have won every division and it is going to be an honour to play for them."
