Aaron Downes could miss the rest of the season with a knee injury suffered while on loan at Bristol Rovers from Chesterfield.
It is unclear at the moment whether the 26-year-old defender will return to his parent club or recover at the Memorial Stadium.
Downes joined Rovers in January and the Australian had recently extended his stay until the end of the current campaign.
The centre-back has made six appearances for the League Two club. He arrived two days before the sacking of former manager Paul Buckle and has started every game since the appointment of new boss Mark McGhee.
