Jimmy Ryan says he decided to join Scunthorpe to make sure he didn't miss out on the chance to play at a higher level.

The 22-year-old moved to Glanford Park from Accrington after he was named in the 2010/11 PFA League Two Team of the Year and helped Stanley to a play-off spot. Now he is relishing the opportunity to test himself in League One and he is enjoying the early stages of his life with the Iron. "I've moved away from home which I'm not used to but I'm enjoying the change," he told Sportinglife.com. "It was a decision that I thought I had to make for myself to play a league up. "I'm at that age where if I didn't go then maybe I wouldn't get that chance again so I felt like it was needed. "I'm just looking forward to getting stuck into League One now and trying to prove myself there."
