Sheffield United boss Danny Wilson has signed striker Chris Porter following his release from Derby County.
The Blades announced winger Ryan Flynn from Falkirk as their second summer recruit and less than 24 hours later have drafted in Porter, 27, who has signed a two-year contract. Wilson said: "It's difficult trying to find strikers who will score goals at this level and if you look at Chris's career, possibly his most productive time was when he was at Oldham in this division where he scored a lot of goals. "We know what he's about and he's very hungry after overcoming some injury problems. "He's a terrific lad who will work his socks off for the cause. He's a good size, he heads the ball well and will score us goals. He's a good link-up player too and will play with different partners." Porter, who began his career at Bury, joined Oldham for a tribunal-set £150,000 in 2005 and scored 22 goals during the 2006/7 season. He then moved to Motherwell and returned south to join Derby for an undisclosed fee in January 2009 and scored two goals in 20 appearances for the Rams last season.
