Danny Whitaker has linked up with Chesterfield on a two-year deal following his departure from Oldham.
The midfielder will once again link up with Spireites manager John Sheridan after the two worked together at Oldham.
Whitaker was released by the Latics at the end of the season after making 87 appearances in two years for the club.
The 29-year-old was a trainee at Manchester United but made his professional debut with Macclesfield and has also had a two-year spell with Port Vale.
Whitaker said: "I am delighted to be joining up with manager John Sheridan again and am excited about our prospects for next season at our new stadium."
