Danny Boshell has set his sights on an extended deal at Chesterfield, but understands it will be difficult.

New signing accepts it will be tough to get into the team

Chesterfield midfielder Danny Boshell has set his sights on winning an extended deal, but understands it will be a difficult task at the high-flying club. The Spireites are one of the form sides of League Two, with automatic promotion becoming a more likely prospect week by week. Former Grimsby man Boshell, who joined the club last month on a deal until the end of the season, knows he faces a tough task to break into the side, but admits that he would love to impress enough to earn an extended stay at Saltergate. "That is the incentive for me to strive for, but it is important not to get too carried away at this stage," he told skysports.com. "I've signed until the end of the season, so I just need to prove that I can still cut the mustard on the pitch. "If Shez (manager John Sheridan) wanted to keep me on board beyond this season then I would be delighted to do so, but time will tell whether that is the case. "My first objective is to get into the side, which won't be easy. "I'm expecting a challenge to feature in the first team there, but I am hungry to earn my place in the side because I feel that I've got a point to prove, as most players do when they are cast aside by a club. "I've got the opportunity to do that at Chesterfield and I am willing to be patient and work hard to show that I am worth keeping on."
