Adam Rundle has joined Chesterfield from League Two rivals Rochdale.
Winger Rundle, who was due to be out of contract at Spotland at the end of the season, has found first-team opportunities hard to come by this term.
He has joined the Spireites on a deal until the end of the season, and said: "I'm pleased the opportunity has come along for me to kick-start my career because sitting on the sidelines wasn't doing me any good.
"I want to play, every player does, but I have found it increasingly difficult to break into the side this season. I believe my fitness is good and, like I said, I just want to play games.
"I'm going to Chesterfield and know I'll still have to earn the right to play and hopefully I'll get playing on a regular basis again."
