Chesterfield striker Jack Lester is close to agreeing a new contract with the League Two club.
The 33-year-old, who has scored 50 goals in two seasons since moving to Saltergate from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2007, has one year remaining on his current deal.
Chairman Barrie Hubbard believes that securing the prolific striker's future will be a priority for new Spireites boss John Sheridan.
"John knows Jack and obviously he will sit down with him and get something sorted. I think there will be some news on that next week," said Hubbard.
