Former Latics midfielder moves to Prenton Park

Tranmere have completed their first signing of the summer after bringing in Mark Allott on a free transfer. The experienced midfielder moves to Prenton Park after rejecting fresh terms to stay at Oldham, who offered him a one-year deal at the end of the season. Although keen to prolong his second spell with the Latics, Allott opted against staying on as he wanted the security of a two-year contract. Rovers boss Ronnie Moore was willing to offer the 31-year-old a longer term deal and is delighted to have landed his man. "I'm delighted to have signed Mark. He is a quality midfielder who will add experience to our squad," said Moore. "He is a hard-working player who rarely gives the ball away. He has captained both Chesterfield and Oldham and will be a good influence on our younger players. "This is just the first signing of the summer and we are working at bringing more talented players to Prenton Park ahead of 2009/10."
