Chesterfield goalkeeper Tommy Lee could be out for up to six weeks after being attacked in Sheffield.
The 22-year-old was on a club approved night out in the city on Tuesday when he was jumped upon.
Reports suggest he was attacked from behind by an unknown assailant, with the club currently conducting their own enquires into the incident.
He suffered a broken jaw as a result of the scuffle, with the injury set to require surgery.
The shot-stopper had earlier featured for the Spireites' reserves in a 4-0 win over Wolves.
However, he will now be out of action for some time as he recovers from the shock assault.
