Ipswich Town manager Jim Magilton has challenged his transfer-listed players to fight for their futures at the club.
Little interest has been shown in Gavin Williams, Dan Harding, Gary Roberts, Matt Richards and Billy Clarke, who were all told at the end of last season that they are free to find another club.
Now Magilton insists he will allow the five to fight for their futures at Portman Road should they return for pre-season training.
Magilton is keen to bring in new faces and Manchester City striker Emile Mpenza and Newcastle's Shola Ameobi are among his reported targets.
But the former Northern Ireland international admits he could still turn to the transfer-listed quintet.
"There has been no contact from other clubs about the players we have made available but it is still early days," he told the Evening Star.
"We spoke to the players concerned at the end of last season and allowing them to leave the club at the right price is all about giving them the opportunity to play first-team football elsewhere.
"I can't guarantee they are going to get that here, but if nothing changes during pre-season then they will get the opportunity to show me they have a future at Ipswich Town."
