Chesterfield midfielder Peter Leven has turned down the offer of a new contract at the League Two club.
The former Rangers trainee, who signed a one-year deal at Saltergate last summer, wants to play at a higher level.
The Spireites rejected a £100,000 offer for the player from Brighton in January.
"Peter has made his intentions clear," said manager Lee Richardson.
"We made him an excellent offer but he hopes that a club at a higher level will come in for him.
"We respect his desire to move on if he so wishes but we have not closed the door entirely on the matter. However, we also have to move on with our plans for next season."
