Defender signs after leaving Coventry

Huddersfield Town have signed veteran defender Robert Page on a free transfer from Coventry City. Page has had his contract paid up by Coventry and has agreed a deal until the end of the season with Huddersfield. The Wales international hade made just two Carling Cup appearances for Coventry this term, having spent almost three years at the club. Terriers boss Andy Ritchie is happy with his new recruit and expects the 33-year-old to add welcome experience to his squad.

Leadership

"Anybody that knows Robert or has seen him play knows that he will give you 100% whenever he plays. He will also give us a voice on the pitch, pulling his team-mates around," Ritchie told the club's official website. "He's a very experienced player who has been captain of Wales and he will give us a great sense of leadership on the pitch. "Frank Sinclair excluded, we have a very young back-line and I think that it's important to have a couple of older heads in there." Meanwhile, Huddersfield youngster Lucas Atkins has extended his loan spell at Northwich Victoria by a further month.
