Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson hopes a week's break will allow Aaron Downes and Jamie Ward time to recover from injury.
Defender Downes was on the end of a bad challenge during Saturday's FA Cup first round defeat to Tranmere while Ward was absent from after pulling a muscle in the warm-up prior to kick-off.
Ironically, Rochdale's visit to Saltergate was postponed due to international call-ups for Downes and Ward along with Adam Rooney.
Richardson said: "After the horrendous challenge he received, Aaron would have been struggling for the weekend had we had a game. It was a carbon copy of the tackle in the Celtic game the other week.
"Jamie injured himself over-stretching in the warm-up so hopefully that won't be too serious.
"We have a two-week break now until we have to go to MK Dons so it gives us a chance to take stock and get players fit and have a rest."
