Chesterfield have boosted their ranks on transfer deadline day by signing Torquay United striker Jamie Ward and French defender Sebastien Grimaldi.
Northern Ireland Under 21 international Ward comes to Saltergate for an undisclosed fee and is likely to fill the gap made by the January sale of Caleb Folan to Premiership side Wigan Athletic.
The 20-year-old heads to North Derbyshire after making over 20 appearances for The Gulls following his summer move to Plainmoor from Aston Villa.
Ward has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with The Spireites, taking him through to June 2009.
The striker is joined at Chesterfield by French centre-back Grimaldi (pictured), who arrives in England on a free transfer from Belgian club Excelsior Mouscron.
The 27-year-old, who has previous experience in French football with Lyon, Cannes and Angers, has signed until the end of the season with the League One outfit.
Spireites boss Roy McFarland was delighted to add Ward and Grimaldi to his ranks on Wednesday.
"I am delighted that we have been able to make these signings, as it provides extra quality and competition for the squad," McFarland told the club's official website.
One player to stay away from Saltergate is defender Shane Nicholson after he extended his loan with Boston United for the rest of the campaign.
