CHESTERFIELD'S relief at having their nine point deduction upheld rather than face further punishment has been tempered by the news that Ian Breckin has handed in his notice.

The former Rotherham star has not been paid, and has becomes the second player to serve his 14-day notice on the club, effectively asking for an immediate transfer, following the example of Mike Pollitt.

Breckin joined Chesterfield for £100,000 in 1997 from Rotherham, and has 195 appearances for The Spireites scoring ten times.

The player has been linked with a move to West Bromwich Albion in the past.
