ROTHERHAM UNITED are at the centre of a goalkeeper switch that has seen Mike Pollitt leave the club for Chesterfield, while Stockport County's Ian Gray has arrived at Millmoor.

Both players have moved on a free transfer, having completed contracts with their respective clubs.

Pollitt, voted player-of-the-year by the Millers fans last season, was an integral part of the side that won promotion from the Third Division, and his departure this week came as a major blow to the Rotherham faithful.

However, manager Ronnie Moore moved quickly to sign a replacement for the custodian by snapping up 25-year-old Stockport keeper Ian Gray. The former Rochdale and Oldham player is hoping to make an immediate impression with his new club next season as they look to establish themselves in the Second Division.

Meanwhile, Gray's departure from Edgeley Park means a move up the Stockport pecking order for 19-year-old Sam Turner, who signed for the club on a free transfer last week - although County boss Andy Kilner may well look to bring in a player with more experience as cover for Carlo Nash.
