Parkinson: Do occasion justice

Phil Parkinson has called on his side to mark the Bradford fire disaster's 30th anniversary with a performance to remember on Saturday.

A minute's silence will be held ahead of kick-off at all Premier League and Football League matches this weekend in honour of the 56 people who lost their lives at Valley Parade on May 11, 1985. "This is a big game for us," Parkinson said ahead of the Bantams' final home game of the season against Barnsley. "This Saturday is clearly going to be a special match and an emotional one with the 30th anniversary of the fire disaster coming up. "It is very important that we mark that occasion properly and do it some justice in the way we play. "We always speak about showing what it means to wear a Bradford City shirt, and I want to see real pride and commitment out there come Saturday." The Bantams' fading play-off hopes were dashed at the weekend, but Parkinson is determined his players improve on their last outing at Valley Parade, which ended in a 6-0 defeat to Bristol City. "We need one big push for this one," he added. "Every player has to really look after themselves between now and Saturday and really be ready to give it their all for this one."
