MacKenzie over the moon

Image: Gary MacKenzie: Delighted to get 90 minutes under his belt

Bradford defender Gary MacKenzie was thrilled to end his long wait for a full 90 minutes of match action on Saturday.

The 29-year-old, signed on loan from Blackpool earlier this month, had not started a game for 10 months due to an Achilles injury, but came through unscathed in the Bantams' 1-1 draw with Walsall on Saturday. MacKenzie made a successful 45-minute appearance for Bradford at Leyton Orient and boss Phil Parkinson handed him his full debut at the weekend. "It was fantastic just to be back on the pitch," MacKenzie told Bradford's official website. "That was my first 90 minutes since April last year so personally it was great to be back out there. "It was good to get 45 minutes at Leyton Orient on Wednesday as well. That probably got some of the rustiness out of my system. "I felt better as the game went on and I felt quite good in the second half. "As a footballer, you want to be out there training and playing and it has been too long for me being away."
