Full-back aware of interest from clubs higher up the pyramid

James Meredith has confirmed he has received interest from other clubs, but is waiting to hold talks with York City regarding his future. The Australian has spent the past three seasons with York and was an influential figure in helping the club secure a return to the Football League. However, the left-back is out of contract and he is understood to be a target for Championship sides Burnley and Watford. Meredith will not rush into a decision about his future, but concedes it would have to be a tempting offer to persuade him to quit the Minstermen. "At the moment, I am keeping my options open and listening to what other clubs have to say," the 24-year-old told the York Press. "I need to have a discussion with York because it would have to be a very good offer for me to leave. "From what I know, there's been a fair bit of interest from more than one club above League Two level but I've got to make the best all-round decision. "I love York and am settled in Leeds where I live but I'll have to see what everybody is saying and then make a decision."
