Bradford boss Peter Jackson has made his second signing of the close season after landing Guy Branston on a two-year deal.
The 32-year-old rugged centre-back left Torquay at the end of last season after defeat in the play-off final against Stevenage.
City will be the 17th club of an eventful career for Branston, who was voted in the League Two team of the year and missed only one league game for Torquay last term.
Jackson told the Telegraph and Argus: "Guy is a major signing for us. We needed a leader at the back and we've certainly got him now.
"He was the best centre half in this league last season and that was why he was voted for by his fellow professionals."
Branston becomes Jackson's second capture since taking charge, following Ross Hannah's arrival from Matlock.
