Magpies expect decision by end of the week

Notts County are hoping to find out by the end of the week if Mansfield winger Matt Hamshaw will be moving to Meadow Lane. Hamshaw is out of contract following the Stags' relegation from League Two last season and Magpies manager Ian McParland has recently held talks with the 26-year-old. The Magpies are waiting on a verdict from Hamshaw, although they are not rushing the former Sheffield Wednesday and Stockport man for a decision. The two parties are yet to reach an agreement but Notts' assistant manager Dave Kevan is hopeful they can strike a deal. "Things are moving on quite nicely in our preparations for pre-season and bringing players in," he told the club's official website .

Talks ongoing

"We've been talking to a number of players, of which Matt Hamshaw is one of those. That is public knowledge now and talks are ongoing with Matt at the moment. "We are keen to have him here at the football club and we believe he is quite keen to join us. It is a case of coming to some neutral ground and coming to an agreement. "We have spoken to him in the last 24 hours and we haven't put a timescale on his decision right now. It is an important decision for a player to make, and we understand that, but we do hope to have a decision from him by the end of the week."
