Bradford City have released defender Alan Rogers in order to facilitate new contracts for Jermaine Johnson and Donovan Ricketts.
The Bantams signed the left-back in August on a week-to-week contract but were unwilling to continue financing his presence at Valley Parade.
Manager Colin Todd is looking to secure the future of both Ricketts and Johnson, and in order to do so the Bantams boss explained he had to let Rogers go.
"It is disappointing for Alan and for me," Todd told the Telegraph & Argus.
"The reason Al's had to go is because I have got to utilise that money for the two players' contracts.
"If I didn't do that it wouldn't have been so easy.
"Now those deals will be done. All the groundwork has already been completed and everything has been agreed.
"I had to look at it and take my time making a decision. The most important thing is trying to get the stability at this football club of the players on contracts."
