Bradford City boss Nicky Law has reluctantly revealed he may need to delve into the transfer market in order to boost his injury-ravaged squad.

The Bantams manager lost the services of Paul Heckingbottom and Jason Gavin in Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Ipswich Town.

With David Wetherall struggling to overcome a clash of heads with Shefki Kuqi on Saturday and Mark Bower still down with an ankle injury, Law admitted that the number of casualties has prompted him to look for loan signings this week.

"As a club, we would rather not bring in loan players," Law told the club's official website.

"But with the state we are in and the growing number of injuries, we may seriously have to look at it over the next week.

"We have big games coming up this week at Crewe and Watford and the squad is getting smaller and smaller.

"A decision will have to be made on Jason Gavin but it is a reluctant one, because if he has to have an operation that will be him out for at least three months.

"With the small and inexperienced squad here, we don't want to be losing our more senior players.

"The injury list is getting bigger and bigger but have just got to cope with it."
