Veteran Cheltenham Town player-coach Steve Elliott has left Whaddon Road by mutual consent.

The 36-year-old leaves Whaddon Road after a four-and-a-half year stay where he made 194 appearances, scoring nine times. Elliott came through the ranks at Derby before turning a loan spell with Blackpool in 2003 into a permanent deal the following year. He joined Bristol Rovers in the summer of 2004 and went on to feature 255 times for the Gas, scoring 18 times. Elliott has been sidelined with a knee injury since November but is close to regaining full fitness and will look to resume his playing career.
