Jones departs Cheltenham

Billy Jones has left Cheltenham by mutual consent having failed to appear in any of their opening seven matches of the season.

Despite starting 39 of Cheltenham's 46 League Two games last season the 30-year-old left-back fell down the pecking order behind Craig Braham-Barrett and Sido Jombati. "The decision was made to part ways this afternoon (Monday) following the relevant paperwork being completed," a club statement said. "We would like to wish Billy the very best for his future and we would also like to thank him for all his efforts over the past year."
