Black targeting play-off spot

Paul Black believes Tranmere can be the surprise package in League One this season, with the play-offs a realistic ambition.

Black joined Tranmere in the summer after he was released from Oldham and he credits the success of friend and former Rover Dave Buchanan as his motivation for moving to Prenton Park. "As soon as Tranmere came in, I spoke to Ronnie Moore and I decided to sign here," he told the club's official website. "I thought about the players who have been at this club, past and present. And I thought about Dave Buchanan, who is a mate, and from Rochdale like me. "If everyone stays fit, then I think we have a squad capable of surprising a few people this season. There are some big teams in this division, but I don't see reaching the play-offs as mission impossible for us."
