Sido Jombati has credited Mark Yates' meticulous planning as a major factor in Cheltenham's rise to the top three in League Two.
Yates has masterminded an unexpected promotion push at Whaddon Road, and the Robins currently occupy fourth spot in the league table with 10 games of the season remaining.
Defender Jombati said the Cheltenham boss' understanding of the modern game has benefited his side no end.
He said: "Before every game he talks through the other team and he tells us what they play.
"He knows whether they play football from the back or push the team forward with long ball. The gaffer has been speaking about every player on the other team so we know how they will play.
"That is football now and he needs to know so he is prepared and so he can prepare us. It is one of the biggest things for where we are now."
