Neal steals FA Cup spotlight

Chris Neal was praised by boss Graham Turner after the goalkeeper helped Shrewsbury beat Newport in the FA Cup first round.

Terry Gornell struck four minutes before half-time to settle the first-round tie, but it was Neal's saves - most notably from a deflected Craig McAllister volley - that caught Turner's eye. "I think our goalkeeper Chris Neal did exceptionally well," said Turner. "He has only come back into the team in the last couple of games and made a great save just after half-time which was crucial. "He came and commanded his box quite well and he and the two centre-halves were excellent. "We've been knocked out before by non-league teams and they were always going to take a chance and get the ball in the box at every opportunity. "I thought we lacked a bit of composure in the second half, but when you walk over the pitch you realise how difficult it was to play on that surface."
