Yates hails midfielder's return

Former Cheltenham midfielder JJ Melligan has rejoined the club following his release from Irish side Dundalk. The 28-year-old made over 100 appearances during his previous three-year stint with the Robins between 2004 to 2007. Robins manager Mark Yates was delighted to welcome back the popular midfielder to the club. "JJ had a clause in his contract allowing him to leave Dundalk if a Football League club came in for him so he was allowed to leave even though Dundalk had a Europa League qualifier in Luxembourg this week," Yates told the club's official website. "I'm delighted to have him on board because JJ is a good footballer with the ability to play either wide or through the middle. He can cross a ball, he has a good work ethic and has the ability to unlock defences."
