Midfielder close to finding new club after rejecting Scunthorpe offer

Skysports.com understands Brighton & Hove Albion are closing in on a move for Matt Sparrow after he rejected a new contract at Scunthorpe United. The midfielder is Scunthorpe's longest-serving player, but has opted to leave Glanford Park on a free transfer after almost 400 appearances for the club. He is now weighing up his options and the 28-year-old is understood to have the opportunity to link up with Brighton. Seagulls boss Gus Poyet has been looking to improve his midfield options and has been linked with the likes of David Prutton and Lee Hendrie. Poyet is now aiming to finalise a move for Sparrow as he seeks to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion next season.
