Bristol Rovers have offered Andy Williams a new contract, but have released 14 players, including the club's longest-serving player Aaron Lescott.
Williams scored just three goals in 43 appearances in League One this season, but is in talks about staying at the Memorial Stadium.
Rovers manager Paul Trollope feels the striker has made progress over the past 12 months and wants the 23-year-old to stay.
"We are in discussions with Andy regarding a new contract," said Trollope. "We feel he's made steps forward this year.
"He's had some fantastic moments during the campaign and we would like to see him here next season."
Fantastic service
Lescott, who spent the latter part of the season on loan at Cheltenham, joined from Stockport on transfer deadline day in 2004 and has made 243 appearances for the club.

official website: "We would like to thank Aaron for his efforts in over six years at the club. He's given Bristol Rovers fantastic service and has been an integral part of our progress in that period.
"He's also been a valuable member of the squad, both on and off the pitch, and he's proved to be a versatile player who has shown his capabilities in a number of positions and we wish him well for the future."
Experienced goalkeeper Rhys Evans has also been released along with Sean Rigg, Ben Hunt, Steve Phillips, Steve Elliott, David Pipe, Joe White, Alex Kite, James Tyrrell, Neikell Plummer, Dan Cayford, Steve Kingdon and Rob Holmes.
Midfielder Mark Wright has been told he has no future at the Memorial Stadium and the club will listen to any offers over the summer.
