Cheltenham Town striker Damian Spencer will miss the start of the new season after damaging medial ligaments.
The 24-year-old suffered the knee injury during the club's pre-season tour of Germany and faces up to six weeks on the sidelines.
Robins boss John Ward had been fearing the worst for his star hit-man since last week but his fears have now been realised after scan results revealed the extent of the damage.
Spencer played in all 61 games for Cheltenham last season and the news will come as a blow ahead of their first game back in League One.
"Damian's scan results have come back and we are looking at a medial ligament problem. We can possibly put six weeks on it," Ward told the club's official website.
"It's not good news but we don't think the injury will need surgery. It is going to take some time to get it right."
