Cheltenham striker Damian Spencer may miss the start of the season with a knee injury.

The 24-year-old picked up the problem in the final game of The Robins' pre-season tour of Germany, a 3-2 win over KSV Hessen Kassel.

He will definitely miss Cheltenham's final two friendlies, and is rated as doubtful for the League One opener against Swansea on August 5.

"Damian is struggling at the moment," physio Ian Weston told the club's official website.

"He strained a medial ligament in the second half on Friday but hopefully we got him off the pitch before too much damage was done.

"He will be treated throughout the week and we will see how the injury settles down, but I would say he is doubtful for the Swansea game."

Spencer featured in all 61 of Town's league and cup matches last season and his absence would be a huge blow to their hopes of making a strong start in League One.
