Cheltenham midfielder Grant McCann will have surgery on his injured knee this week.Cheltenham midfielder Grant McCann will undergo surgery to repair damage to his injured knee later this week.
The Northern Ireland international suffered cartilage damage in the 1-0 win at Rushden & Diamonds on December 28 and will go under the knife on Thursday.
He faces a six-week rehabilitation period and is likely to be out of action until March.
"Grant is in for an operation on Thursday lunchtime," club physiotherapist Ian Weston explained.
"He will be out on Friday morning and we are looking at six weeks post op rehabilitation all being well.
"It's a good quick turnaround from when he picked up the injury against Rushden. Within the space of a week we have had it scanned, diagnosed and booked in for surgery."
Meanwhile, Shane Higgs and Shane Duff could both be fit for Saturday's derby clash with Bristol Rovers after their injury problems.
