SHREWS FACING KEEPER CRISIS

THIRD DIVISION outfit Shrewsbury Town are facing a goalkeeping crisis following the injury of Paul Edwards during their 1-0 win over Cheltenham on Saturday.

Edwards limped out of the game in the second-half with a groin strain and now leaves Shrews boss Kevin Ratcliffe with only one senior keeper at his disposal.

The 35-year-old custodian could now be out of action for up to ten weeks and leaves youngster Ian Dunbavin, who replaced him on Saturday, as the top keeper at Gay Meadow.

The 20-year-old former Liverpool trainee made his first appearance since losing his place in November and is now hoping to stake a claim for the starting place while Edwards recovers.

The injury now puts Edwards' hopes of making his 300th league appearance in doubt if he fails to regain his place from Dunbavin.
