Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe and Chairman Jeff Mostyn have been full of praise for each other

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has described their rise to the Premier League as an "incredible journey" after their 3-0 victory at home to Bolton all but ensured promotion.

The Cherries will be playing top-flight football next season for the first time in their history, having almost gone out of business after entering administration in 2008.

"It’s been an incredible journey and when you look back to the time when we were really struggling to stay in existence, we didn’t think it would ever be possible to be in this position," Howe told Sky Sports News HQ.

"It’s taken an incredible amount of work from a lot of people to get here and our loyal supporters deserve a great deal of credit for ensuring the club is still here.

"They were bleak (the times in administration) because you didn’t know from day to day what the future held for Bournemouth.

"There were so many financial troubles for a number of years, so you wondered if the business was viable and if anyone would take it on and make a success of it.

"Thankfully there were people who had Bournemouth in their hearts and the chairman Jeff Mostyn put his own money in to keep the club funded through administration.

"Coming out of administration and getting a couple of promotions certainly helped and (owner) Maxim Demin came in and he has really taken the club onto a new level and it’s those people who have really made the difference."

Howe has already begun his preparations for life in the Premier League and admitted some changes will need to be made over the summer, on and off the pitch.

“There are a lot of things we will need to fix and put right to make sure the stadium is fit for Premier League football,” he added.

“In terms of the playing squad, that is something I am going to prepare for now. I am back working again and that is the beauty of being a football manager, it never stops.

“We have obviously got a big game on Saturday away to Charlton which we would love to win and we are planning all the time.

“That’s not in our hands, that’s in Watford’s hands. We will just try and do our bit, go to Charlton and be professional and make sure we don’t fall off the high standards we have set.”
